Tuscan Wedding at Tenuta Corbinaia

Katie & Cameron have their dream in the Tuscan hills at Tenuta Corbinaia after a micro wedding at Marylebone Town Hall

Katie & Cameron’s story begins all the way back at university - at the time Cam referred to Katie as “Katie Worldie” - fast forward and we find ourself in a pre-wedding shoot in Battersea Park, a family filled legal ceremony at The Old Marylebone Town Hall in London with a big celebration in Tuscany at Tenuta Corbinaia in 39 degree sunshine!

I always recommend that couples pick somewhere important to them for pre-wedding shoots. Being somewhere meaningful, or familiar helps you feel comfortable which can be vital when unsure about having a professional photographer follow you around taking photos of you. This definitely helped Cam & Katie ease into how much fun it can be and acted as a great warm up before the main events.

At The Old Marylebone Town Hall Katie & Cameron had close family and friends present for their legal ceremony before heading down Marylebone Lane to The Coachmakers arms for drinks, canapés and cake.

After the ceremony there was time for confetti, photos on the famous steps and iconic mews behind the building, before enjoying a scenic walk through the streets of Marylebone to The Coachmakers Arms.

Downstairs is a cosy space, with intimate lighting in which guests enjoyed a few speeches, drinks and a fabulous lambeth style cake.

A few weeks later, we were off to Tuscany. Tenuta Corbinaia has accommodation onsite but is approximately a 45 minute drive from Florence making it ideally situated in the Tuscan hills, but not too far from cities or airports making it accessible to guests.

Driving up to the venue, you’re immediately greeted by a stunning villa surrounded by green. Ornate decoration, a stone courtyard overlooking the hills as well as steps leading up to a roof terrace.

The day started slowly, easing our way into what would end up 39 degree heat. Katie and her bridal party enjoyed the aircon in the villa as they had their hair and make up finished. Final preparations began as Cameron and his groomsmen did their best to avoid putting their suits on for as long as possible.

There was time for a last minute dip in the pool before Adam and I started shooting details next to the pool too.

As the bridal party had finishing touches applied, Katie retreated to the bridal suite to start putting on her dress. This gave us time to grab some photos in the sun with the groomsmen, before getting them back into the air conned villa as quickly as possible.

Back with the bride and there was virtually no sign of nerves, helped perhaps by the legal element of their marriage already done back in London. Smiles and laughs with her sister Hannah and friends was the dream. Even time for champagne (don’t tell the Italians!)

Once she was ready, Katie had a lovely emotion filled first look with her parents before it was time to walk down the aisle with her dad.

The ceremony was on the terrace, overlooking the valley and despite scorching sun both Cameron and Katie looked immaculate. Their guests kept cool with parasols and fans provided for them by the couple.

After the ceremony guests went back down to the pool, to enjoy Aperol and charcuterie in the shade.

We often talk about being flexible with the weather in the UK, but the same can be true in Italy. It was 39 degrees, so any photos we took were in short bursts and utilised the shade.

Quietly confident we were going to have a beautiful sunset, we didn’t dwell on photos of the couple for too long. Adam the Videographer and I had worked together before so we were a great team getting everything we knew the couple would want without keeping them from their guests.

Drinks, drinks and more drinks took us to dinner.

Katie & Cam took a look at the table before guests came through and they loved it. Personal touches abound including personalised blue napkins. The table itself looks out over the Tuscan hills around the venue and as the sun sets to the west, it truly is a sight to behold.

A fun, napkin waving entrance followed by speeches and glorious Italian food and wine.

Now it was time for sunset couple portraits at the dying embers of golden hour.

We popped down to the cypress tree lined avenue first, giving a perfect backdrop and the last of the sunset and then went back up the hill to the rooftop terrace.

The one thing you have to consider with sunset photos is exactly where and when the sun will set. It seems obvious, but where a hill crests or a tree line is can affect when you’ll run out of sun. We weren’t sure how this would line up with the timing of dinner but fortunately the wedding planner and event staff were exceptionally helpful.

Adam and I asked for the couples main to be served last, giving us as much time as possible to nip off for photos without service being disrupted or their food going cold.

As you can see, it worked to perfection.

After dinner came some theatrical cake decoration, a first dance and then of course - much, much more dancing.

Adam and I were about to leave, but Cameron asked us to stay for one more song. He told us it’d be worth it (and worth it, it was).

The next day was a chilled day by the pool, with yet more Aperol and pizza making and yet another sunset. Might be worth asking Katie & Cam for lottery picks.

So here’s to Katie & Cameron - they’re loving Angels instead.
